A: No, it's not needed for that light of a motor

**Q: will this fit a 225 mercury optimax**
A: It fits my 150 Merc,think it's fairly universal

**Q: I ordered this for my 25 hp outboard that does not have power trim/tilt. The package says it’s only for outboards that do. Will this still work?**
A: If you can’t tilt your motor it won’t work. If your motor won’t tilt there’s no need. If your motor tilts manual I believe you can lock it in place again no need for this product. What makes you think you need this product?

**Q: will this fit on the square frame of the trailer? the ones i have seen fit on the roller on the back of the trailer**
A: Yes it will, but you will need to drill a hole thru the frame to attach the bracket or you could weld the bracket, that is included for this type of setup. This is the way I use mine.

It comes with a rubber bungee that may or may not be the right size for your motor. Cheap to remedy. Otherwise, well constructed, easily installed, easy to use. No complaints.
