The knife looks great, with nice sheath and handle. However, wasn't suitably sharp on arrival and had uneven bevel. It has taken some work for my partner to sharpen it and still not quite as good as he would expect so a little disappointing.

Other 'alf was over the moon we have a thing about Damascus blades

I received this as a gift for Christmas present from my daughter whom I did not want to upset by telling her that this knife was junk. Let me explain this may be made with Damascus steel. I very much doubt it .Damascus steel is always laminated IE folded into layers giving a strong and unique pattern to the blade. This is not folded and doesn't have a centre core essential for a Damascus blade. I am a professional chef with 50 years experience and use knives every day I have 3 Damascus steel knives 2 being shun and 1 from China all 3 knives are razor sharp and take very little effort to keep them sharp. This is my experience with Damascus knives. I wouldn't buy anything other than Damascus blades now. This knife is blunt .not sharpened to the correct angle which should be between 10 and 15 degrees this knife is more like 40 degrees more like the edge on a hatchet not ment for cutting but splitting. This knife was ground on a grinder and not even finished on a stone as you would get on a proper Damascus steel knife the edge is rough and will not cut. this knife was made by someone who just didn't care about what they were selling .so in summary please do not waste your money on this item. If I could give it less than 1 star rating I would I hope this saves someone their hard earned money.
