I bought this model because you can use it as a hand held steam cleaner for counter tops, etc. The steam coming out of this as a floor Mop is more powerful and better evenly distributed than the other models I have used in the past, including as a hand held steamer too. I find this ridiculous. Do other people wash them with regular laundry?** A: Hi - I think the reason the suggest that is they have a very rough surface, good for cleaning but also collects lint from your other clothes. I found that these get very dirty and require an extra amount of hand scrubbing before i put them in the washing machine. I spray them with Resolve, and then scrub them on a washboard or with a dish brush and then wash them seperately. I have washed them with other things, but as i suggest they collect a lot of fibers from other items in the wash. This is a great machine for cleaning floors, even the "smell good" pellets are great. One suggestion, don't buy a lot of backup pellets as the ones that come with the machine will last you many cleanings, if you remove them before washing. This is my 5+ Star cleaning machine, it is even better than when i first reviewed it. I did order additional pads so that i had at least 2 to 3 for the whole house. I have 1400 sq feet of ceramic tile. **Q: are the pads washable and, if so, how long do they last?** A: Yes they are washable and are made of cotton and should last a long time. You get I believe it was two different pads with the machine. One ,smooth and one with ridges for really tuff things. Have used mine quit a few time and they wash up nicely **Q: Can the steamer sit on the floor while on?** A: Yes it can sit on the floor. I use it on my ceramic, marble and porcelains floors and the spot where you sit it will just be warm and of course a little wet from the cloth. Hope this helps. **Q: is it possible to just get the scrubby mop replacement pads? i cant find them anywhere.** A: There might be some generic scrubby pads sold here on Amazon but the only place I've seen the real/authentic Bissell pads sold not in the mixed sets is on the Bissell website. I know you can buy just the scrubby pads there, individually. However, one pad costs almost as much as buying the set of 2 different pads. Easy to use, lightweight and the perfect mop for tile floors. Howeve, over time the mop heads get so dirty that even repeated washings can’t make them look like new. So every year I buy new mop heads as a replacement. My whole house is tile and I use my Bissell steam mop with these heads once a week. The pads hold up well. My only suggestion would be to offer two of the “rougher” heads/ package rather than 1 “rough” and 1 “smooth” pad, because if you have only tile and not wood floors you don’t need the “smooth” pad. I also like the fragrant discs this package comes with. It’s very a very pleasant smell.
