Review: Amazing value for money - This purchase was more a want than a need and as my wife had asked me what I wanted for Christmas this felt like a good enough reason for Santa to bring me this. So although my wife bought this I am writing the review as the user. I have no affiliation with the brand and this is NOT a paid review. I have a couple of Ingco power tools now, Impact driver and Drill (see separate reviews) so it made complete sense to stick with the brand. One of the big draws for this set was the 2 x 4Ah batteries included along with a charger and moulded carry case. My intention initially was to go for the lower rated 500nm wrench, but this one went on sale and was only going to cost a few pounds more, so it seemed a no brainer. It arrived and like all Ingco power tools, was presented in a bright orange blown moulded case. The case itself is sturdy and hold everything where it should be so no slipping of parts when transporting. Another little touch I personally like are the little protective covers you get on the batteries. May seem trivial but it helps protect the connections and they fit seamlessly and I like that, it’s the little things. First thing I did was to check the batteries for power and then charged them up, being 4Ah they will take longer but in the real world you would have one in use and one on standby ready to go. After an hour or so for each they were ready and slotted perfectly onto the impact wrench (love the satisfying click you get when they engage). In hand with a battery attached you do notice the weight, over 2.5 kg but it feels sturdy and well made, the grip handle is ergonomic and not too big. The trigger is levelled so you can apply pressure slowly if needed. The LED light is angled upwards slightly so it actually covers the area you are working on and having 3 power modes to choose from means you always have the right amount of torque needed. Most people will buy an impact wrench to remove wheel nuts and although I had no reason to remove mine, it was a new toy and needed played with, so of with the wheel buts it was. The set does include 3 sockets but personally I prefer to use dedicated impact wheel nut sockets with sleeves to prevent damage. They loosened them with ease with no slipping. When it came to tightening I used the lower setting and finished them off with a torque wrench for peace of mind, but have no doubts, this beast will tighten them with ease. I do have a ½ drill bit adapter I can use to turn this into an impact driver if needed and I did so just out of interest, and it put a screw into a railway sleeper my wife has for a vegetable garden with absolute ease, so it is versatile if you want or need it to be. I am not a professional mechanic (although I am a qualified one), I am a Mechanical Engineer. Will this be used on a daily basis, probably not (that’s why I bought the impact driver), but when I do use it I have the confidence in knowing its performance. Having the interchangeable battery system means that I have been able to use one of the 4Ah batteries with the impact driver with no issues. This really is a cracking bit of kit and personally I think it delivers the performance of premium brands just with great value for money, as for longevity I cannot comment as of yet, but I can comment on Ingcos customer service, which I think is fantastic. So overall a nice weighty bit of kit that delivers on what it says it can do, but best of all it is value for money and you cannot ask for more than that.
Review: Is it a Beast or just a tame Puppy? - We are all wary of unknown Chinese brands which pop up on power tools soon to be replaced with the next brand name and there are plenty of brand name Impact wrenches tested and posted on youtube. You look for the brands and it is no longer available so search for the equivalent because we are on a budget. Well! Ingco seems to be a well established brand now in many countries not least South Africa, Italy, India and asian countries to name a few. Now to the Impact wrench itself. Incredible value for money as this tool is not cheaply made and delivers some punch. It truly is a bit of a Beast. I do not have fancy test rigs to measure the torque nor am I going to waste time tightening loads of wheel bolts with a torque wrench and loosening with this impact wrench to test it as it does not really prove a lot as it is more than capable of spinning them off in seconds. Will it do a hub nut? I have no reason to doubt the specs are up there or better than all the other budget impact wrenches and may well be competing with the premium established brands. However I want to concentrate on what a lot of people want, not my opinion but facts and one thing I can post is some photos of what is inside this beast of a tool. Pictures do not lie! Most will not care, but I know there are some out there who will appreciate some more details. You will see in the pictures how good the mouldings are with plenty of strength. It may not be up to Milwaukie strength but is better than what I have seen on many other premium brands like Makita and Dewalt. It is streets ahead of budget tools I have seen pictures of being torn down. The Motor seems well made and has extra resin and lacquer on the coils after winding. Pictures of cheaper ones are just left bare. There is dense cushioning foam on the sides of the trigger switch and the control module which is potted in a metal casting and not plastic. The wires to the motor are bonded into the case so they cannot vibrate and break. The trigger switch plunger has a corrugated rubber boot. Ingo have certainly given attention to making this suitable as an industrial tool. The Batteries are respectable as well. They are DMEGC INR18650 20P cells which are used in many power tools and well respected battery cells. They are 40 Amp rated 2 Amp hour cells in a parallel pair configurations giving 4 Amp hour capacity. The battery control board is well made and sealed. The plastic cases for the batteries could be better to remove sharp corners and the case screws heads project out and could scrape against something. I recessed the holes and improved this,,,,see photos. It is possible Ingco have left the screw heads proud to give some wear resistance to the bottom edges of the battery case. The Battery charger gives the impression of being cheaply made, which is common for a lot of these chargers even from other established brands, but it is not bad and much better than many and certainly better than most which come with cheap budget power tools. I will post some pics and you can decide yourself. It has the circuitry to monitor the battery temperature and battery voltage with out the voltage drop in the charging wires which some chargers do not have. Downside like most brands, the batteries are only for Ingco tools but are compatible with 100s of tools they make and they seem to have some nice power tools not least smaller impact wrenches, ratchet wrenches and from inspection lamps to cooling fans. Am I pleased with this 850Nm impact wrench? - you bet I am , but it is powerful so think hard if maybe a lower spec model would be more suitable for your needs. The 300 or 400Nm ones might be much better if just needing for wheel bolts etc. and will be much lighter to handle and use. At some point I may add pictures of the Impact mechanism but at the moment my opinion is it is also of very good quality and is all metal and the two halves are sealed with a thin O ring to stop grease bleeding out. If Ingo ever read this review - recess those battery screws!!! (personal opinion) and take a look at where they apply conformal coating on the battery charger PCB as it was somewhat messy and could be a lot better and rubber feet on the charger would be a nice plus to stop it sliding about. The quality of the wrench body plastic mouldings, and the mechanical parts is excellent. The carrying case it comes with is fairly strong and the vacuum formed insert is strong. So overall this is an excellent tool, good quality, and delivers a lot of torque representing very good value, just keep in mind ..it is quite heavy as are most high torque impact wrenches. It is most certainly NOT your usual budget tool and you will not be disappointed.
