I was a little worried because the description says it would work at around 40 ft and I sit much farther away from the lecturer than that. However, I am pleasantly surprised, you can still hear the professor really well. This model also has a background noise dampening feature on it which was one of the reasons I chose it. While I'm sure a more expensive model would work better, this does a fairly decent job for the price. It definitely helps reduce the sound of typing in the recording. Transferring the files to my computer was very easy and the sound still retained its quality (reviews on other products said that they would sound great on the device, but terrible on an actual computer). I do have a PC, so I have no idea how that experience would be for a Mac user. The battery lasts fairly long as well and it is easily charged with the USB cable provided. The only thing about it is that you have to remember to transfer the files and erase the memory because if it is full, the recorder will shut off in the middle of your recording. The storage capacity isn't bad, I can usually get about 2 or 3 days of lectures on it (at least 8+ hours of lecture). Would definitely recommend for any student looking to help themselves out, especially if you are a broke college student on a budge like me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, very lightweight, a little quiet and tinny *by G***M on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2018* I do a lot of qualitative research and transcription, which requires working from recording devices such as this one, so I've tried out plenty over the years. However, I was tired of having to worry about buying AA or AAA batteries for my older Sony-brand devices, and decided to try to find a rechargeable one. This is my second attempt; the first one (different brand) had software issues and froze up the first time I actually tried to use it. This one works alright, and I've encountered no such software issues so far, but the sound quality and pick-up are not as good as my older devices, and can be both tinny and variable in noise level, meaning it can be annoying when listening to a recording with headphones. Without headphones, it doesn't get very loud though, which is a counter-issue. However, I found the controls very intuitive, and didn't bother reading the manual to figure them out. Also, this is the most lightweight such device I've ever encountered, which could be really useful if you don't want to carry something heavy in your bag or pocket. I am going to keep this one and use it as backup with other devices when recording really important things, but may look for another one with better microphone range and louder playback. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Nifty device with great functionality *by H***B on Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2018* I really needed a voice recorder for my lectures and transcription. I would highly recommend this one especially because the quality is crisp and the functionality is simple and effective. The battery life is long-lasting and best of all, I can simply upload any of my files very easily and quite quickly.The material is durable and very ergonomic. The important buttons are easy to find without having to look at the device and in a few minutes, you are capable of getting the hang of using it without any difficulties. I thought the keypad buttons were quite responsive and so there is some reassurance that you are recording a lecture or dictation without needing to double-check. Regarding form-factor, it is suitable for a front shirt pocket or inner coat pocket and doesn’t feel to bulky. In fact, I use it on a regular basis and haven’t seen any evidence of wearing or tearing on the device. I will obviously update the review if I experience otherwise.If you are a student or a researcher, or really enjoy recording yourself recite lecture notes or a chapter of a textbook, I would highly recommend this product. The price point is excellent and you really feel as though you are purchasing a high quality product.
