I've bought others of similar size, shape and method of operating and none of them could churn the butter as it thickened. This one was my "last" attempt at getting a compact butter churn and I was thankfully surprised. The part on the earlier purchased churns that failed was the gears that drive the paddle, all the other churns had cheap, loose gears that would slip causing the paddle to stop as the butter thickened. This churn is so well constructed of better materials and heavier gears that it effortlessly mixed the butter and never once slipped or failed. It takes about 7 to 8 minutes to churn about 1/2 lb of butter and it's awesome. I highly recommend this churn. Review: It worked fine for a short time but the gears all piled up soon after buying it. The gears are only aluminum or some other soft metal and they don't last long.
