There are alignment screws that move the reticle pattern inside the sight, left, right, up and down. Pick a object about 1/4 mile away and look thru your eyepiece and focus until object is in clear view. Align the reticle pattern on the sight using the alignment screws, so that when you look into the eyepiece you see the reticle pattern centered on the object. This is easier to accomplish during daylight hours. **Q: What advantages does this finder have over the traditional TelRad? I might assume a somewhat smaller size.** A: The advantages over Telrad are: more compact size, which gives more flexibility in mounting it, more flexibility in viewing the illuminated reticle, and last but not least, a larger selection of reticle. **Q: How long and wide is the dovetail base?** A: The base is nearly square. It is 1-3/16 inches long and 1-7/32 inches wide. Be sure to loosen the up/down & left/right locking pins before attempting to align the Red/Green dot. Once properly adjusted and aligned... only then tighten the up/down & left/right locking pins. The up/down lock-pin takes a really TINY flat blade screw driver. The left/right lock-pin takes a small allen wrench. Currently using this on my AT80ED scope and it works better than a finder scope with crosshairs. Use it with BOTH eyes open, one on the dot, other on the target.
