There are little spicy led (to y dissolving needles) in this serum that make micro channels in your skin to allow products to penetrate more deeply. It also has three gentle chemical exfoliants to smooth and brighten skin. It's a fairly thick, non-sticky serum, and it prickles quite a bit when you massage it in. I bought this on a whim and found out later that this is NOT "beginner strength". A starter serum would be a 100 ppm level. 2000 is definitely more intense and I do get some irritation immediately afterward.
