Review: Kanna good enough for beginner and pro alike! - Great hand plane! It comes sharp out of the box, which not even all premium ones will. It took about 30 minutes to tune up. This is standard for even more expensive Japanese planes. The size was as advertised, though I wasn't expecting it to be nearly as heavy as it was. I was able to use it one handed and still took red oak shavings as well as pine from Home Depot. It took paper thin shavings down to thick heavy curls. Use the hammer to tune the depth of the blade and you'll have your desired shavings! Overall/TLDR: EASY TO USE, SET UP, and excellent value! It is easy to adjust, and will last a long time!

The adjustment is straightforward though completely unlike western planes and it works well. Look forward to getting other wood planes and comparing them. Great hand plane! It comes sharp out of the box, which not even all premium ones will. It took about 30 minutes to tune up. This is standard for even more expensive Japanese planes. It does the work. The block feels a bit too light compared to my other Japanese planer from a different manufacturer. Good tool for starting with a hand planer.
