The lamp is very bright but soft and easy on the eyes. It was perfect for reading. At first I thought the "sunrise" setting was a bit gimmicky, but my daughter told me she was awake and not feeling groggy before the alarm went off. Who knows, maybe she was excited to wake up to her new toy. As for the clock, the digits are easy to read and the speakers a decent sounding. The buttons are soft to the touch. I had to throw a scarf over it. It's also too lightweight and all the buttons are on the front of the clock so if you try to press snooze you knock the clock over. As well, as far as I can tell, you cannot turn off the sunrise function and it gets very bright very fast. Finally, it does not allow you to set the radio stations. It pre-scans and programs them itself, so if you have a station you like that it doesn't pick up, too bad for you. It is extremely complicated to set. And I could go on, but the real problem is that the LED display is malfunctioning after two months. I know I should feel lucky because that happened to someone else after two days; however, I am out of the period for returns so I have no recourse.
