For the most part, I have only really used it in place of my regular conditioner (so, I wash and rinse with a shampoo, and then use this as conditioner and leave in my hair for a few minutes before rinsing). I didn't fully understand its use as a "cleansing conditioner" until I had been using it as just regular conditioner for awhile, so I tried that and had good results with it, as well - my understanding of it being a 'cleansing' conditioner is that you can use it in place of shampoo, as well. So in instances like that, I use a couple pumps and work it through my hair, rinse, and then use it again for conditioner. I wasn't sure that I would like this method, but it actually left my hair feeling just as soft and clean as when I use regular shampoo, so I think this method works as well. The sweet almond mint scent is pleasant and refreshing, though.... it does kinda smell like toothpaste. Not a bad thing! Just something that might throw you off with how one might normally associate that scent. I also don't fully understand the amount recommended per use - my bottle indicated that I might need 18-24 pumps per use. Well, that is above and beyond anything close to what I actually need. I have shoulder-length, somewhat fine hair. I've only used between 3-6 pumps per use, and it has been plenty. I would think that 18-24 pumps would be for VERY long/thick hair, but also, would result in burning through a bottle in just a couple showers! Personally, I am quite satisfied with just a couple pumps and using it instead of other conditioner, and then using my other (cheaper) shampoo, for equally good results.
