I have a 5 1/2 year old and a 4 1/2 year old and I bought them a size 6. We have bought them cheer uniforms every year since they were two and my older daughter is a cheerleader so I know how these should fit. They are VERY wide. They would fit a heavier girl if she has a very large stomach. My daughters are 40 pounds, very average in size. I was hoping for more of a 6x size. Even if she grows this will swallow her in the stomach. I have thought about taking it to have two inches taken in on both sides but don't know if I want to spend the money. Would I buy this again? Probably not -- Is is cute, yes. Highly recommend the manufacturer edit the cut on these. These are safe in that it is a one size fits all kind of outfit.
