It's also not much more expensive. It has become my non-sugar sweetener of choice, because it has no aftertaste. However, it is a sugar alcohol and it may cause gastric distress if you use too much (how much is too much may be something you find out through trial and error). It also may potentially raise your blood sugar, but for most people it will not. While it measures like sugar and holds its bulk, it is not as sweet as sugar.
