The strings and guage that were on had a heavier guage especially towards the bassier strings – they were a set of:“Martin & Co Bluegrass with the following string gauges:12, 16, 25, 35, 45, 56These John Pearse set that I’ve put on have lighter feel, with the guage being less for the third, fourth, fifth, and six strings:12, 16, 24, 32, 42, 52So I was expecting a defferent feel to them especially when going from a 56 to a 52 for the sixth string, and also a different sound, which has definitely been the case, but what I wasn’t expecting was such a really bright sound.Fair enough, stings always sound good and fresh and brighter than the ones that have been removed, but these really were very bright.The set settled in very quickly as well. I pinch and pull each string up at the 12th fret a dozen times and then give a firm strum for ten to fifteen second on unfretted strings, and repeat in needed, which will settles strings in quickly anyway, but this time it seemed even quicker than usual.Very good bright responsive sound across all six strings and with good sustain.This is the first day of these strings so they haven’t been fully tested yet, but I will edit this review if there is anything significant with regard to longevity, deterioration etc, but for now (apart from getting used to the lighter feel of the guage) I am very pleased with the set.I make no claims about being an expert or anything but (and again just for reference) I’ve been re-stringing guitars for over forty years. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Solid Strings *by G***M on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 January 2020* I tried these strings due to good reviews. I had a habit of snapping strings from all other brands I tried. I tried all the main brands. I gave these a go. First thought was they felt harder on the fingers, but they sounded really nice, good bass notes, clear highs. I'm not a fan of brand new strings as there are too many overtones, and I don't believe the true sound of the guitar itself comes through.
