This book does have a lot of basic information of Japanese ships but it let down by the very poor quality reproduction of the photographs and the poor quality of paper used. The book feels like it was printed out on somebody home printer.

Der Autor hat hier eine anerkennenswerte Fleißarbeit abgeliefert  -  mehr nicht ! Wer allerdings über entsprechende andere Quellen verfügt (Jentschura, Watts, Gordon, Conway) kann auf dieses Buch verzichten. Das Bildmaterial ist fast vollkommen bekannt und im Druck zu klein. Die wenigen Skizzen sind entweder ebenfalls zu kein oder wurden bei deren Vergrößerung unscharf.Kann man mit den Baudaten, den Aufzählungen der Einsätze und dem Verbleib der einzelnen Schiffe durchaus zufrieden sein, so müssen die anderen technisch-taktischen Daten als sehr mangelhaft bezeichnet werden. Selbst solche Angaben zu den Antriebseinrichtung nebst Leistungen fehlen bei allen Schiffsklassen. Es ist vollkommen unverständlich das sich der Autor mit Angaben zu Tonnage, Abmessungen, Geschwindigkeit, Besatzung und Bewaffnung zufrieden gibt. Keine einzige Besonderheit bzw. Neuerung einer einzelnen Schiffsklasse findet eine textliche Erwähnung.Fazit: Man kann sich einen schnellen Überblick verschaffen und der Preis stimmt. In die Tiefe geht diese "Werk" nicht !(Vermutlich ist zu befürchten das die anderen Bände des Autoren genau so strukturiert sind)
