Review: Makes Cold Brew Easy - I have been using my French press to make cold brew but decided to go with a dedicated cold brew method and container. I decided on this product because I have been a big fan of Takeya tumblers for several years. The name has been synonymous with quality and durability. I typically only use glass but the glass version is much more than I wanted to spend but this Tritan plastic version is very affordable and works the same. The recipe and instructions are included and it's extremely simple and was to use. The fine mesh filter is great because I prefer a less coarse grind and this does not allow for the fine grains to pass through, resulting in a very clean pitcher of cold brew. I love the aesthetics and design but it's very tall, making it hard to fit in my refrigerator configuration. I had to adjust the shelf to accommodate the height but other than that, I'm very happy with this product.

After comparing prices and reviews, I decided to give this one a try. 3 weeks and several brews later here are my takeaways: Pros: Easy to clean and use, coffee tastes great, not going back to buying pre-made! Cons: Durability seems fragile as the soft foamy plastic on the handle is coming up already, it will leak if you don't screw the lid on tight so beware, since it has to brew laying down it takes up more space in my small fridge than I'd like Overall though, it's a much cheaper alternative to pre made cold brews and you can control the strength and taste of your coffee by selecting the brand/grounds/roast you want and by adding more or less ground to the filter. Special Note: I read through a lot of reviews and it seems the main issue most people had was the coffee grounds seeping into the liquid. It appears from reading the replies from the manufacturer and by my own experience with this, that they have created a smaller mesh filter and have stopped shipping the product with the old style. The new style is so good that I'm using fine ground coffee and have had NO grounds in my end product. So please disregard older comments about this issue if you're ordering this for the first time. Another main issue is about the leaking but if you screw the top on securely and shake any excess out into a sink before placing it back into the fridge that will prevent leakage. For just in case, it's good to have a paper towel under your brewer when placed on its side.

**Q: Can you use this to make ice tea? it seems the same as the Takeya ice tea maker but with a different colored top.**
A: It's not the same filter. The coffee maker uses an ultra-fine mesh filter, while the iced tea maker uses one that is not as fine. We also recommend using two filters - one for coffee and one for tea to ensure that you get the best taste from each beverage.

**Q: The suggested 28 tbsp coffee almost filled up the filter thingy - some grounds were even dry after sitting.  What measurement works best?**
A: After my first attempt, I also experienced dry grounds. The next time, I put the filter in the pitcher and gently ran water over it. Then I filled the pitcher with water and let it sit for 24 hours (I’ve seen some people only let it sit for 12-16)… It came out amazing. I drank it straight from the pitcher, black. Omg

**Q: When do you add infuser? do you put infuser in after 32 ounces or after 3/4 full? thanks. the instructions say to add 32 ounces and to fill 3/4 full.**
A: Add the infused after filling the container/pitcher with water. 32 ounces is about 3/4 full but honestly you don't need to be THAT exact with it.  Miss it by a little and it will be insignificantly stronger. Miss it by a little too much and it will be insignificantly weaker. It really won't make much of a difference either way unless you have a ridiculously refined pallet. Personally, I just fill it up and eyeball when I think it's about 3/4 full and then I put the infuser in (the infuser is already filled with the coarse ground coffee beans when I put it in the pitcher).

**Q: The suggested coffee amount seems so wasteful (14-16 tbsp) can you get away with using less?**
A: You can  try using less, stsrt with 9nor 10, then cold steep it for 24 hrs or even 48. Some brand names cold brew much longer than twelve hours.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for tea too!

So I love tea, but I hate being warm. I've had a bunch of loose leaf tea just sitting in my cupboard throughout Summer because I didn't want to drink something warm when it was already too hot in our house. From the first time I used this it immediately became a "why didn't I buy this sooner?" kind of thing. Now I always have tea either steeping or ready to drink. I've used it with both green and black teas, which have both been fantastic. Going to try a herbal chai tea next. The tea tastes perfect, exactly as it does with a perfectly steeped hot tea, but with cold brewing it somehow doesn't get bitter when you leave the tea in too long, it stays perfect, so it's even easier than brewing hot. And I get four large cups out of this, instead of 2 with my kettle. Went with Takeya specifically because I use one of their metal insulated water bottles daily, and love it. Same quality here. I kinda wish it was glass instead of plastic, but at least if I drop this it isn't going to shatter on my feet. Drawbacks? If I'm being hyper-nitpicky, the way that the filter threads into the lid is kinda tricky. I usually have to try two or three times to get the threads lined up right. Can't recommend this enough. One of the best purchases I've made on Amazon in a long time.
