It means you don’t have to have a special teapot or make a whole pot if it is only you drinking it. The holes are small which means that you don’t get the annoying leaf dust that you can get with larger holes. The lid also doubles as a tray so that when you remove it from your cup, you place it on the lid and it catches any drips.
