The medium fit me fine, except it's long in the crotch. I don't think this will matter, as it's not noticeable under a garment. I can only put it on by stepping into it, as the compression doesn't work for me to put it on over my head. It eliminates the undergarment bumps, which is what I need it for. When on, it's not an overly tight compression, but just gives my body a smoother look when wearing more formfitting sheath style dresses or under more hugging tops. If you are looking for a heavy Spanx type bodyshaper, this is probably not for you. It does compress, but is way more comfortable than heavier compression undergarments. Note that the top is a "twist" top, so if you are wearing this under thinner material garments, this "twist" will definitely show up and look bumpy.
