Review: Baud rate needs to be correct - I used this for remotely capturing microcontroller serial debug to laptop. The debug was at 57600 baud and at first all I got was garbage in my laptop terminal program. I discovered that the 'pass-through' defaults to 9600 baud rate on RX/TX and if another baud rate is used then the bluetooth end will indeed be garbage. So, to change the transceiver baud rate (1) power-cycle transceiver with pushbutton depressed so that it enters command mode (2) using a terminal program (9600, 8N1, appends CR/LF) enter "AT" and ensure "OK" is returned (3) enter "AT+UART=57600,1,0" to change baud rate to 57600. The change is retained after power down. It should then work!
Review: Easy Bluetooth connect for MCU's (Atmel devices, Arduinos, R.Pi etc) - Straight-forward to implement - used mine on a 'Pololu' MCU with USB connect, and wanted to add Bluetooth for 'phone connect (using a simple Android APK built using the MIT 'App Inventor'). The item simply works as expected, no drama!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy Bluetooth connect for MCU's (Atmel devices, Arduinos, R.Pi etc)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ They work but the rubbish written about using these is amazing!
*by L***Y on 4 December 2022*

I won't get the last hours back from trying to get these units working and was close to thinking they must all (3) be faulty! Firstly the order was again good from AZ. I know they point out the documentation however this is just the normal stuff found widely. I wanted two of these as a master & slave. The main issue with these HC-05 units is the generally helpful but inaccurate/inconsistent information out there, with most the tutorials insisting that you 'connect TX to TX and RX to RX' - nope, these work how you would expect every other serial interface - you connect the RX to the TX and TX to the RX. I was beginning to think it was some trick to stop anyone entering the AT mode. Maybe some boards were mis-printed in the past? However these very common versions that AZ are providing (with the 'tick' on the plastic sleeve) need RXTX & TXRX to work. Unless simply used to connect to a bluetooth device using the default HC05 bluethooth id, you will want to configure them with the AT commands. The internet was full of broken souls struggling to do this... and I was nearly one of them! However for these boards there are two pretty simple ways to get them into AT command mode: Option 1) connect the positive supply voltage (3v or more) to the 'EN' pin, connect the TX-RX and RX-TX and power up. The LED should pulse quite slowly to show it is in this mode. In this mode it ALWAYS CONNECTS at 38400 baud. I did try terminal emulators/serial monitors and the connecting to the TX/RX USB pins, but all failed however using a 3.3V Arduino, I had no issue sending the AT commands (with the necessary \r\n end of line chars) and in my case I set up the master mode and got it to auto-connect Option 2) power up as normal and then press the button (which in effect puts 3v to the EN pin) and hold the pin in while using the AT commands. The LED carries on blinking at the normal rate however it responds to the AT commands again, but in this mode, it connects at the normal configured speed with a factory default of 9600 baud. I used the AT commands to bring it in line with the Option 1 mode (38400) to simplify it for me. I still don't know why I never got a terminal emulator to work as I did have the 'send CRLF' ticked however the two units are now paired with an Arduino on each end. They pair-up within about 30 seconds and just seem to work from there. Key take-ways these need RX-TX connections and have two simple modes to allow AT commands. The only item I have been unable to set is the pin code which fails in either of these modes.
