It IS soft, definitely. However, the fabric also feels thin. Actually, when I opened it, my first thought was "that's it, that's all there is to it"? Not sure how much of the plush would be lost in the wash/dryer, but don't want to risk throwing $94 down the drain to find out. Looking each year at Oprah’s favorite things at Christmas time is fun to explore however a lot of her things she picks are very expensive. As a single mom, I just want one thing to have and I chose this one. I live in Santa Barbara and its always sunny but on our “ cold nights” so to speak, it’s nice to wear.
