Just for reference..my baby girl is an August baby 10 months old..30 inches long (98th percentile!!) and 21 pounds (85th percentile!!) she is extremely long but lean even though she is higher in her weight percentile. I got size 6-12 months and didn’t expect to use it until after December (my baby will be 16 months then) and it looks like I got lucky because that seems to be when she will fit it perfectly! :) although I’m sure she’ll be able to wear it earlier it will just be a little loose on her.
