It is a little see-through, but the pattern seems to hide important areas to hide (even though it shows my nipple rings). I wouldn't wear it around kids, just in case, but it's fine to wear with friends. I've asked a few people if they can see through it and they said not unless they're looking for it, so it's not obvious. It does tan through just a little bit, but don't expect the same results as laying out naked, however, it does help blend in the areas that don't typically get sun.
