It wouldn't be any different even when they are 14** A: My understanding is that it's against regulations to give magnets over a certain strength to young kids because there's a risk, from the combination of the maturity level and the strength of the magnets, they could have them attach through their hand and cause damage or something. I ended up buying a set for my son and a second set for my husband. As adults they got tired of them quickly.
