Takes about an hour to fully inflate and air out as instructed. I use it on a kitchen chair as that is my temporary office until our basement is completed. So far I'm happy with it as it supports my posture and adjusts in all the right places. Build quality is good enough it should last the duration of a dozen years if treated correctly. Used in direct sunlight in a vehicle I can't say with any certainty. I cut off the sewn on straps one may use to attach to a car seat I suppose, the bottom of this will grip most car seats but that is a choice you may make to leave them or not, I found them intrusive for me.
