I've been all over my borders and it has broken up the soil with ease leaving it looking lovely and freshly turned. It is SO much more effective than using a hoe and SO much easier than a spade. With regular use my borders are going to look fantastic and it's going to take so little effort. When it arrived I thought that I would be using it like a spade by putting my foot on it so that the prongs went all of the way in and then twisting. This approach would take an awful lot of effort - especially in clay heavy soil. Instead I've found myself pushing the prongs into the soil around three inches deep, twisting and covering a large area in such a short amount of time. It's all very easy and I would highly recommend that you purchase one. This is stating the obvious but the better the soil the easier using this tool will be. There's an area of my border which has clay and the tool is more difficult to use. On my crumbly soil it's amazingly easy. My only small gripe is that the handle grips could benefit from being upgraded as they're not very substantial. It makes wedding super easy with very little effort. The handle had to be attached with the bolt provided and I'm a bit dismayed to find it a loose fit. Personally it doesn't bother me as it still seems pretty robust.
