It's a great alternative to Arches - comparable quality and texture, but more economical. It's a very heavyweight, sturdy paper. I've purchased it in many different sizes, and they've all been great. One word of caution: it's harder to get this paper off the block than any other block I've used, so be sure to remove it slowly and gently, or you may end up ripping the paper (I've ruined more than one painting trying to remove it too quickly). It's wonderful for watercolor and gouache (and I'm sure for acrylics as well). Watercolor is semi-permanent on this paper which I like but others may not. It's not my favorite for colored pencil (I prefer an even smoother surface) but I realize this isn't made for pencil.
