## Description

Originally used in Japan as a cooking oil and for beauty purposes. Tsubaki Oil (Japanese Tea Seed Oil) is a must have for high carbon steel knives. Apply a few drops after use to prevent rust, corrosion and discoloration. It will also help shine and condition your knives. The Rust Eraser will help remove rust and stains on your knife. Follow the grain of the knife, gently moving the eraser back and forth. Only erase on rust/stain spots. For maintenance info and professional Japanese knife sharpening contact our Yoshihiro Cutlery store.

Review: And that is no exaggeration: this knife oil--I know it by the name "hinoki"; there are other names for it--is bsolutely fantastic for knife blades. Living in the high desert, rust isn't much of an issue unless one is careless with one's knives, but regardless, it's always a good idea to protect blades with the application of oil periodically. This oil is perfect: viscous enough to stay whete you put it but light enough to be easily spread on the blade; it dries quickly without leaving a sticky residue, yet blades that have been treated will resist fingerprints and repel dust for days. I love shiny, satin finish blades, and I love the even shinier mirror finish blades when I can find them, but they are susceptible to finger prints when handled. Leave those print on a shiny blade long enough and the acidic skin oil will permanently discolor the steel. Satin/mirror blades that have had this oil applied, however, behave like stonewashed blades, i.e., they will not pick up finger prints at all. It's really quite remarkable and wonderful. One more positive feature of this oil: it can be applied to blades with a partial black coating w/o staining the coating. In other words, the plain metal portions of a blade that need oil can get it, and the black coated portions aren't left with a big, greasy smeer. Ok, one more great feature: I've treated +50 knives in the week I've had this oil and the volume in the bottle has decreased maybe...10%? Maybe less, depending upon exactly what the fluid level looked like when I got it, which I dont recall. Oh, and the eraser works great too. With a little patience it took off some patina spots that had developed on a CPM M4 blade I have. But the eraser is just a normal-good product. The oil is one of the most phenomenally outstanding products I've used, ever, period.
Review: Perfect product for high carbon coating, has lasted months on my blades, with good care, the occasional inspection and just a few drops of this, my blades are ready to take a good nap without fear of rusting.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I use this oil on my tools? Like chrome plated wrenches and others related tools and how often do I have to reapply the oil to prevent rust??**
A: I have not used the oil on chrome plated tools but I have used the oil on my expensive hand planes, plane irons, chisels and other steel woodworking tools and it works great to protect them from rust.

**Q: Can i use this on my Ka-Bar Becker knife?**
A: Yes, you can use Yoshihiro knife oil if your Ka-Bar Becker knife is made Carbon steel. Thank you

**Q: Is it suitable for pivot of folding knife?**
A: Yes, it works for pivot of folding knife too. Thank you

**Q: Is this oil made from camellia japonica? if so can it be used in cooking (e.g. deep frying)? not that i actually would, but just curious....**
A: Yes it is, but no, you should not use it for cooking. It says specifically on the bottle that it is not food grade, whether that's because it isn't 100% camellia oil or just because food-grade standards of cleanliness and quality haven't been maintained, I don't know. Either way, don't eat it. Or put it in your hair.
