I also bought a pair of thinning shears and deshedding comb, nail trimmers, and witch hazel and cotton wool for ear cleaning along with some shampoo and we where ready to go.I have a nervous Cairn Terrier and unfortunately I was unable to handstrip him and cost of getting a groomer to do this (if I could have found one in my area which unfortunately I couldn't) would have been prohibitive. So he went to a lovely Dog Groomer and his coat trimmed and shaped, unfortunately she would always do a sort of cross between a schnauzer and westie cut so decided to try myself. Cost was also getting to be an issue tbh. I like him to look like his breed and it had been about 7/8 months since his last cut so he was pretty long coated and he has a double coat and its thick/coarse. I spent a lot of time checking out youtube videos, how to trim/handle your dog etc which helped. Took my time, cut his nails and cleaned his ears on day one cos I cannot stress how much he hates this. Day two shampoo and dry good brush out and deshedding finally went over with metal comb in set which was v good. Then took out the clippers and heeded the advice on the videos, used the longest comb attachment for his body and took my time going in the direction of the growth of coat. These Clippers where great, went right through the coat which was verrrry long, had stop and clear the head once or twice but that was to be expected. I used the 3mm comb on his sanitary areas and ear tips, decided to keep his skirt and leg furniture just trimming with thinning shears. Used scissors in kit to trim around his feet whilst he stood on table. Didn't use clippers on face just thinning shears wanted him to keep his rough terrier look. I am so pleased with the outcome and the set has paid for itself in one groom. My Cairn looks neat and clean (that one last long ;) and like his breed so pleased. Intend to post pics soon.This is just my view and this is my first experience of clipping any pet however I would definitely recommend this product.Please though if first timer like me I would advise you to check out a good deal of youtube vids first just to keep your dog safe and you both relaxed while you do this.This is not a professional tool, I had no problem with it, but I did take my time and was not in a rush, it suited me. However if you have a dog with a very dense fluffy coat, ChowChow etc I would say probably not for you and it might be better spending money on more expensive professional clipper.I always had respect for the people who do grooming as a job, but after doing this myself I also have better understanding of what they pack into that hour or so and what goes into a groom. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Rosie - Neatly trimmed - at last! *by K***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 May 2020* I have a very sensitive female Springer Spaniel called Rosie. She is a rescue dog and she becomes very distressed when being groomed. She grows a dense, long coat and doesn't shed much so she needs to be trimmed every few months. To do this we have to take her to our vet and have her sedated before being trimmed. I don't like it as there are obvious risks involved - also it is very expensive, even though she is worth every penny. I heard about the virtually silent pet trimmer from Sminiker and decided I had to give it a try. I had to wait a while for delivery but, it was well worthwile. I managed to trim her - not very professionally but, I'm sure my skills will im[prove in time. She whimpered a little but, she was fine. I couldn't believe how well behaved she was. She is very happy and comfortable with herself now and both my wife and I are delighted to have Rosie finally neatly trimmed. The first time I used the 12 and 9 guard and the second I used the 9 and 6 guards.These trimmers are so easy to use. Very quiet with not much vibration. The fur just glided off with ease and there were no line marks either. I did full grooms both times and they never ran out of charge or got hot.The scissors are good for the price too.I watched you tube videos of grooming tips.
