It is primarily used to train for high altitude settings where the oxygen levels are low. Our body can adapt low oxygen levels if we gradually train it. After the impact of having Olympics at a high altitude back in 1968 in Mexico, a paradigm shift had occurred in sports science leading to two new methods of training i.e. "Live high/train low" and Train high/live low". Since then it is also used in sports to enhance performance, build resistance against fatigue, improve the whole cellular respiration. The mask does exactly what it is meant for. It generate hypoxia and dips your SPO2. It has different resistance valves. Those valves have different numbers of holes to allow the air in depending upon your requirement. There are some cons though. One is the material is comfortable but it tears off soon due to the heavy load. I have ordered my second mask and it is starting to tear off again. especially from around the ears. Secondly the ear holes are a little small for my ears.
