My skepticism was palpable. I’m deeply invested in the Canon ecosystem, with a stable of EF lenses I’ve come to rely on. The thought of a non-interchangeable lens felt restrictive, and the smaller sensor size raised questions about image quality and depth of field – areas I prioritize. My initial search for a more compact companion camera stemmed from a desire to streamline my gear. I've been slowly purchasing more versatile RF L-series lenses for my main body, and needed something truly portable for travel and everyday carry – a short lens solution that wouldn't weigh me down. The X100VI, on paper, ticked the "short/travel camera" box, but could it truly satisfy a full-frame noble snob like myself? Let me tell you, the X100VI has not just surprised me; it’s genuinely charmed me. The fixed 23mm f/2 lens (equivalent to 35mm on full frame) is surprisingly versatile.
