! Beautiful Air Dried Solid French Oak Fire Surround Beams, many size options. Please note, default surround style is 'contemporary' with straight edges on the sides of the beams. We are able to work beams at no extra cost (see images). Please submit 'product enquiry' should you want your beam worked. Important please note the following before purchasing; As Oak is a natural product each piece may be different in appearance and slightly in colour. Our character beams may already contain surface cracks, knots, pin holes, & waney edges. Please remove the beam from packaging upon receiving it to allow it to breathe. Although air dried to the Pembrokeshire Climate, it is not unusual for the oak to develop further shrinkage, movement, splits and cracks as it acclimatises to your properties temperature. Please remove the beam from packaging upon receiving it to allow it to breathe. We recommend that if the beams are going above a log burner, fire or any intense heat, that the heat should be gradually increased over a period of a week or more if possible. All of the above points will not be accepted as defects, as character beams, all of the above only enhance the beautiful natural characteristics of the oak. Finishes Explained - Please take note of the important info: As the beam is planed the finished size can reduce by up to 20mm. Planed & Sanded (PAS) - Planed as above and then sanded by hand to a super smooth finish, all edges will be sanded smooth following the natural shape of the individual beam. Many other finishes available. Fitting and caring for your beam, We do not drill or pre fit the brackets to the beams, so you then can choose which side of the beam you prefer showing. *Please note that this is only a recommendation structural engineers advise is advisable. Oiling your beam - We supply pure oil as standard for the beams
