The smaller tools I couldn't get enough leverage to work it into the big cranky stuck quad muscles on my leg. I'm not an expert in any of the techniques for using, but i am into self-help. I also bought a less expensive one that was about 1/3 the cost of this one, to compare, the compromise was material thickness. In hindsight, it seems obvious now that thickness needs to scale with the size of the instrument, and this is a big one.
