Time saver for sure, glad I bought it. **Q: What is the temperature range?** A: It is not settable. It is a plain "plug it in and heats up" iron. But judging by how fast it melts solder and joints, I'd guess it's on the aggressive side, meaning, up around 700 F. It melts the joints faster than the temperature-controlled workstation I use on my bench to do my soldering, and that is set at 650 F at the moment. This thing is hotter than that. **Q: What’s the highest temp the tool reaches?** A: I don't know the exact temp it gets to but it melts the types of solder I use just like my soldering iron does. I does work very well for correcting my mistakes (installed the wrong transistor in...etc). Didn't want to spend $100+ to get the fancy de-soldering gun. **Q: How long has it lasted for those who boutght it? Does the plastic melt or burn up where it meets the metal?** A: No, the plastic does not melt, and I used mine multiple times to fix a subwoofer amp board, and it worked great. Given its low price, what to ask for more? - there's amb board fixing channel on YT and the author was telling others you have to spend tons of money ($400+) for a desolder to do the work, and this one cost 1/10 of the price and did the job for me.
