She ended up getting a bone infection and had to have her plate removed six months later. I had read all the great reviews of TopDog GlycanAid HA, and I have been giving it to her ever since her first surgery. She is now doing really good. She still doesn't put full weight on her surgery leg and that leg is smaller than the other as a result. But the other knee has been okay thus far (fingers crossed.) I can now take her out for a good run/swim and throw the tennis ball for her for about a half hour most days, and she does extremely well. She still takes Tramadol in the morning and if I stop giving her that she starts limping worse, but otherwise she is very happy. She was so thrilled when I was able to start taking her off leash and let her fetch the tennis ball again a few months after her second surgery. It truly is what she lives to do. It's hard to assess whether or not the TopDog has helped her, because she's been getting it every day since her first surgery and I've never taken her off it to see what happens. I give the 4 star review due to the fact that she has been able to resume something close to her previous level of activity without increased limping or injuring the other leg. It would be 5 stars but I honestly don't know if she would be fine without it. And I am so happy with her progress and I don't want to take a chance on derailing it by stopping her TopDog.
