Other than that the kennel is holding up well with 100 lb XL pitbull puppy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mostly happy *by C***N on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 25, 2023* This is a very sturdy dog crate. And it will work for my purpose. But holes that are pre drilled are a little too low for the bottom lock to slide in place. So I am back to adding a tie wrap. Also there are a few places that are not well painted. ### ⭐⭐ Great design, poorly executed, and with improper parts *by C***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 10, 2018* The GoodThis thing seems STURDY. The bars feel solid and I really like that I can reach through them to pet the (large) pup. It's an interesting design and an improvement for anyone coming from the standard fold up crate. The interior base for the animal to sit/stand/lay on is made up of small bars, but those bars are tight enough in their spacing that dogs can walk on it without any issue and a decent bed will be supported with no problem. The tray actually sits under those bars to capture dirt and or waste and can be removed without disturbing the animals. The latches are of a design that seems like they should be able to hold even the most ardent escape artists without the need for a real lock. We are currently out of the fostering game, but when we were fostering dogs the opening top on this would have been a great benefit for popping smaller dogs in and out and or food and toys for them.Overall I feel it's a great design that, at least in the version I received, was poorly executed in a multitude of ways. The last good point was that the seller was responsive and sent me some new parts and stated they would pass along my feedback to the factory. However, the parts they sent still did not work properly and what happens with the info sent to the factory is anyone’s guess.The BadThe box arrived in seemingly decent shape and the packing seemed to be in good shape, but the frame was still somehow torqued and bent out of shape and I had to bend a few walls back to get the bolt holes to line up enough to get bolts through them. Despite the walls being bent, they bolt into place for the final shape so I believe they will be very sturdy as a completed product. The rear wall and top have open hinges that are supposed to mate together but one side or the other was bent or just out of alignment and I needed a rubber mallet to heavily bang them together. The metal tray for dirt and waste was bent in multiple places along the bottom cornered edges and in the 4 corners as well to the point where at least one corner was fully split open (see pic) so that the tray would not hold any amount of liquid. Maybe switching to a plastic tray would benefit the manufacturer for reducing this damage. There was a LOT of black dust that I believe came from the black paint rubbing off from all of the parts during transit. I would recommend opening the box outside. As I moved the walls of the crate around there was a lot of noise from leftover debris rattling around inside the square frame tubing and or hollow bars. Not the end of the world, but still seems indicative of not a lot of care put into the overall process. One of the bolt holes, even after bending the walls back, and all of the adjacent holes lining up, could not be properly aligned and I could not get a bolt through it no matter how hard I tried. I will need to drill out that hole myself to get the final bolt installed. The nuts and bolts aren't great. I installed the bolts so that the flattened (rounded) head of the bolt was on the side of the crate wall where the animals could get at them (see pic) but that left the nut and exposed bolt end sticking out to the world on the bolts for the side walls. It would have been nice if they had included cap nuts, but likely they plan on people leaving the nuts on the side the animals can get to them. Again, I really like the latch design, but where the screw holes on the latches and latch catches are counter sunk so that a flat head screw *could* sit flush to the plates, the supplied screws are too big so that the screw heads stick out too far from the latch plate (see pic) and the latches are a significant hassle to open and close, or move into the "secure" position to prevent your little escape artist from getting loose. I had to bend the latches around the screw heads so that the latches could swing around at all, and then I had to bend the latch catches out to make it so the latch could actually seat into the catch. Despite that, my fiancée with smaller hands has a lot of trouble trying to use them, in general, and I do not slide the now bent latches into the “secure” position or she would need a hammer to get it loose. Finally, the casters are useless. I installed them and with the crate empty tried to roll the crate across a hardwood floor and left 4 black streaks the entire way until I realized what was happening and stopped. The seller was responsive and sent me a new set fairly quickly, but out of the new set only 1 rolled semi decently, nothing but more black streaks from the others. I will need to buy my own better quality casters or build a different base if I want to be able to roll it.SummaryI can't say it enough, I was surprised to like the design/concept as much as I did but for $200, with the HUGE number of failures in the execution and cheap parts, this product costs about twice as much as it should have. We bought this in anticipation of a problem dog and in the end the dog probably didn't need it so this has been a bust for us. IF you need a REALLY sturdy crate and are willing to put up with a LOT of quality issues and cheap parts, then I would cautiously recommend this crate as I couldn't find any other "heavy duty" dog crates that weren't ridiculously overpriced.
