The first book was absolutely amazing, however, I am 25% of the way through this one (according to my Kindle) and I'm ready to stop reading. The point of view of this book is so different than the first one. It's more educational and matter-of-fact and less "story." In addition, as indicated by the cover photo (notice she's in the forefront of the picture), Nuala talks a lot about how her struggles and how the first book launched her career and opened up doors for her. I don't feel connected to Dale at all in this book and I feel sorry for Jamie, as he's clearly been ignored for years - I'm certain if I continue reading, there is a divorce in the future. Also, she discovered something called the excalamation point and uses it constantly. The book is the continuation of the Gardner's story, which was introduced in A Friend Like Henry. I learned a lot I didn't know about autism & find it interesting to know as I have a family member with what many of us think is undiagnosed Asperger's. No one knew what to call it when he was a kid. At any rate, I'm not sure how this couple survived the first several years with their son Dale--he was SO difficult to handle & so frustrated himself at his inability to understand the world around him. It would be so hard on a marriage & totally exhausting.
