This isn’t the first in this series I’ve read. I liked the others, but this one? No.First, junkies who are supposedly robbing a grocery store pharmacy for drugs just “happen” to have a bomb made with c4 and nails for shrapnel with them? Uh, no.Second, the siblings of the junkies are also bomb making experts with a lair and the skills to set trip wires, surveillance cameras, and an elaborate revenge scheme? Again, no.Third, Cheyenne’s sibling and mother were stock villains of the overdone variety. They were ridiculous and unbelievable characters. We learn nothing about Dude’s life or background, not even really how he ended up with the scarred/disfigured hand.And lastly, Dude is a Dom?? Uh, please warn people when your book has kink in it. I had to skip over all of that as it was repulsive.I wish I’d never bought this book. Blech, it was terrible. Also, if you read enough of Stoker’s books they become repetitive. Not romantic at all! Yuck. I'm half way through and I quit.Finished it hoping one of them would get therapy and help the other. But no. A dominant and submissive and neither evolve.This author's writing is formula, but it was a formula I liked. I wanted to read every book she'd written. But after this hot mess, I WILL NEVER READ ANOTHER!The hero seemed like a man who would beat the crap out of her if she showed any gumption at all. The book even hints at anal. Bondage is big and one of the couples that I liked were getting on the bondage bandwagon, so the evil will spread and contaminate the rest of her writing.God is love. Love is irrestible. It doesn't need erotica or hardware. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't know what love is, especially Susan Stoker. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Too short - underdeveloped story *by C***L on Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2020* So, I didn't have as many problems with this book as I've had with some of Susan Stoker's previous books. I got a bunch of her books at a reduced rate on my Kindle, so I'm gradually working my way through them. To date, I haven't been overly impressed with her writing, but it's also not the worst I've ever read.So, for this story we have Dude (Faulkner) and Cheyenne. We weren't given enough background information on either character, so that made everything seem rushed for me. I like to really get to know both of the main characters. The fact that Dude (stupid nickname) became fixated on Cheyenne after their brief meeting really didn't make sense to me. I think this connection would have seemed more logical if it had been played out in a more normal fashion.At least for this story, Cheyenne wasn't described as an ugly, completely pitiable creature. This is something that the author tends to do with all of her female leads, for some inexplicable reason. While Cheyenne is described as nothing special, she at least has a normal kind of job and is socially acceptable (though far from self-confident). Dude's dominance issues were frankly underdeveloped. We have no idea what drove him in this regard. He claimed to not be into BDSM, but just that he liked to have complete control in the bedroom. Well, okay. It was just kind of weird and we weren't given enough background information to explain his thought process. So, in some ways he came across as a douche. In others, he just came across as being protective of Cheyenne.All in all, I enjoyed this story enough to get through it, but it wasn't one of the better romance novels I've ever read. There was nothing particularly hot about it, and most of the drama situations were frankly rushed. I think this author would be better served to focus on creating full-length novels so she can get completely into providing readers with character development for the main characters as well as the full development of their relationship.I didn't dislike either of the main characters. I just thought the whole story line was rushed.
