For us, doing this was worth keeping the door locked, but if you have any type of antique wood or any other reason not to damage the material around your door frame, this may not be for you. One other thing. We were low-key worried about the lock being too solid in the case of an emergency. I can say, for any adult in an emergency situation, this lock would be able to be removed by force with no problem. However, my 2 year old daughter could not force this open on her own (which is what we would prefer).
