Looking at the photos, it looks thicker. What is the internal front-to-back thickness?** A: You are correct. The 2"inches is just the upper layer. There's a second zipper you can see to open the second layer that's probably an additional 1". I'd say overall, it probably has about 3.5" inches thickness but is separated as two layers. If you look at the hardshell interior, you should see that it is a pocket you can store stuff. That's about 1". Then in between the upper hardshell and first layer, is probably another 1.5". If you store nothing in the hardshell pocket, you can probably fit something that's about 3" thick. But of course that thins out the lower second layer too.
