It worked great. The biggest issue is you cant get the instant temperature change that you do with gas. This has worked just fine for me on an electric stove with the traditional 8" spiral heating elements. It holds the round bottom wok about 1" above the burner. Without the ring, the wok would sit upright on the burner, but I was always worried about the danger of it tipping over. Now it is very stable. I did notice the sharp edges along the top opening that others have reported. Be careful when washing this! I couldn't give them five stars with this obvious hazard. Mine appears to be made of aluminum, with no evidence of any coatings or paint. I've heated the wok up very, very hot, with no evidence of discoloration or flaking of a coating. Perhaps this would work better with a gas stove, and I'll have to try it with my outdoor stove sometime. Perhaps this will not work as well as a larger burner for a wok full of food. But I was surprised to find that for the smaller portions that I cook, this ring combined with the 14" wok can heat up very well and allow me to produce a good stir fry on an electric range. I did some experiments, to see if the wok ring would slow the cooking down. Without the ring I had a hot ring around the bottom of the wok.
