## Description

The Frantoi Cutrera family estate is situated in Chiaramonte Gulf, in the heart of the Iblei Mountains in southeast Sicily. "Segreto Degli Iblei" Extra Virgin Olive Oil is obtained exclusively from the local Sicilian olive variety. The special microclimate gives the oil its unmistakable trait of intense fresh fruit. Tones of green tomato and aromatic green herbs with finishing notes of almond and artichoke, create a unique harmony between its bitter, spicy and sweet elements.

Review: This EVOO came packaged extremely well and about a year into its best by date (which is usual for non Novello). Upon opening it smelled fresh and grassy. The taste is quite vegetal, green bell pepper, peppery kick. It’s a robust EVOO but not the most robust you can get. It’s quite different from the usual fruity/ buttery EVOOs. **Q: Is it organic olive?**
A: No, it is not organic! Excellent olive oil! Cold extraction, extra virgin , DOP and it’s from Sicily!

**Q: What is the harvestb date of the bottels your curently selling ? Thanks**
A: I bought these through Amazon and when I did my batch was harvested in April , 2021.  Recommended to use within 6 months. 

Each batch will have different dates and half life.

A: The bottle I bought says:A: 05/20/18 (best by date)B: 15/16 L-V133G (bottled date)Not really sure what the actual date is but should be at most 1.5 years. If you find a good oil bottled within the last six months (last harvest) please let me know.

This EVOO came packaged extremely well and about a year into its best by date (which is usual for non Novello). Upon opening it smelled fresh and grassy. The taste is quite vegetal, green bell pepper, peppery kick. It’s a robust EVOO but not the most robust you can get. It’s quite different from the usual fruity/ buttery EVOOs. This is great for pastas, pizzas, fish, and salads. Any dish with a fresh and simple taste, add a drizzle of this and it elevates it immediately. I would not use it for red meats, stews, or poultry dishes. The bottle itself is a good size and quality. And the cost for this oil is about average for the quality. I can’t say for the exact polyphenols amount in this batch as it’s not listed anywhere but based on the slightly bitter/ peppery kick I’d say it’s probably somewhere between 250-500 mg/kg, which is considered high.

So we usually bring back olive oil from small producers that we visit in Tuscany. We were running low so I ordered a few different brands on Amazon and I have to say this olive oil is as good or better than anything I’ve brought back from Italy myself. Really pronounced nutty and herbaceous flavors, great color and the aroma is to die for. I’ll be ordering again and again and again.. large bottle doesn’t even last a month in my house.
