They are very thin and when you squeeze them they don't appear to compress at all. I decided to give them a try anyway and I have found a noticeable difference but not in my jumping height. I don't play sports and didn't purchase them for that purpose. I bought them to help with foot pain as I stand on my feet for long periods of time at work. I had tried numerous insoles and gimmicks previously to be able to stand without pain to no avail. I used this insole with another orthotic insert which actually worked. If I were reading this review I would be thinking "it was the orthotic that worked and not the springbak insole". If I had used the springbak insole under the original shoe insole as it was intended then you might be right but I didn't. I used the springbak insole as the ONLY insole in the shoe with the orthotic insert that only covers the heel on top because of the limited space in my shoes. Even though this insole is very thin and was designed to be used as an additional insole and not the primary one I have far less foot pain than with the full length expensive ones that I had tried previously. It could be that it was just my particular foot problem that this insole helped with and it wouldn't be the same for someone else but it definitely worked for me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a convert *by D***E on Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2019* I resisted these for years. I had teammates that swore by them, but I thought, "How can a little piece of foam make such a difference?" Well, after battling some chronic, nagging injuries and having to deal with a week's worth of play at Nationals, a buddy loaned me a pair of his. What a difference! I've been reading some of the reviews, and many are expecting some type of steroid performance enhancement, which wasn't my goal, and I didn't notice any difference in performance metrics. I just wanted something that would keep me from hurting so much during/after play. I was amazed at the results. Big difference in that department. This was for volleyball, and on Sportcourts that they lay down over convention center floors is very unforgiving. These made all the difference. I also play competitive tennis on hardcourts, which is also VERY unforgiving. These made all the difference for tennis as well. I now recommend these to all my active patients, whether they are having current injuries or not. If I can fell that much of a difference in my joints when using these, it's certainly going to reduce fatigue and give your joints a better lifespan. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Great. First time trying these out *by M***H on Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2016* Great. First time trying these out. They pretty much fit true to size. After days of working which includes running, jumping, basketball and event soccer, I don't feel any fatigue after my workouts. While playing basketball without putting these on I can grab the rim fairly easily with one hand and sometimes with two hands but with the insoles in my shoe I could honestly jump about another 3-5 inches. Note that I am only 6ft tall and prior to purchasing these insoles I've been performing plyometrics, speed and some weight lifting as well. But don't believe in all the bad and negative comments. They obviously did not read the directions carefully plus the fact that these insoles don't work miracles but in vertical jump training it's a war of inches and these insoles do exactly just that. They also give a slight boost when taking that first step as if you were being projected forward/vertically. Definitely purchase these.
