Was thinking I'd cut the end off and connect them to an existing light fitting.** A: Hi. I have never tried this. However there are issues with led lighting and dimmer switches unless they are specifically designed for that purpose. Most led lighting will light at such low voltage it can be tricky and there are also issues with flickering etc. In my application I simply removed the plug and fitted them to smart switches which are mostly operated from door contacts (obviously with time constraints and timers). Interesting idea which may possibly work with the correct dimmer. Obviously always use caution with mains potential and make sure everything is isolated and safe before starting. Good luck anyway. **Q: Is the mains lead detachable** A: No it is firmly fixed. These were very easy to install in my case, as I didn’t need to use the adhesive backing so because of this, I don’t know how sticky they would be. They work as expected and seem to be well made and durable.
