Last month I tried these nibs with yogurt and berries at a breakfast at the La Anita lodge in Costa Rica. This is the farm that grows cacao and produces the Upala nibs. The added flavor was really nice. Like the best in chocolate without the ton of sugar and with very little bitterness. Back home I decided to buy some nibs and was really surprised to discover that nibs from such a small producer are available on Amazon. I bought them and also to get a better sense of the different flavors I got the best Criollo nibs I could get in whole foods and and also a similarly priced best rated nibs on Amazon (which are are also single farm). The nibs from WF were less flavorful and had a moldy aftertaste. It was so bad that I bothered to return them (maybe it's just a bad batch). The other single farm nibs were also quite good but just a bit too dry and ashy (as if over roasted). For fun I even did a blind test with my kids and gf and everyone preferred the Upala nibs.
