I don't see why it would't work for the thicker material **Q: Will this straighten .049 wall stainless coiled tubing?** A: Yes, the tubbing can be straighten. You will need a tubbing straightener similar to the Toolguy Republic Brake and Fuel line tubing - 3/16" to 1/2" Diameter Tubing as I did. The tool is not cheep but it is the only way I could straighten the lines. **Q: Is my unit faulty? There is nothing holding the top bearing in place. The only way to straighten tube is to push down hard on the adjustment handle.** A: Okay, lay the contraption face down on the pulleys with the mounting plate (vice side) to your left. Starting with the thumb wheel rotate it until you see the allen set screw. While you're doing that hold the shaft and make sure it is turning. If it's not you're missing the set screw or it's not seated properly. Underneath the thumb wheel is a black plate that is attached with the two screws that the thumb wheel shaft goes through. It's got a bearing in it and I suspect you have to remove the thumb wheel to remove the shaft from the black plate. The bearing appears to be installed from the bottom of the black plate. That shaft screws into the top two pulley mounting bracket (check from the bottom to make sure it is threaded.) If the bearing is popping out the top of black plate under the thumb wheel, my guess is that black plate was installed upside down, so technically it's defective. I disassembled mine to see how it was put together for this narrative. If you unscrew the black plate and unscrew the shaft you can pull the the thumb wheel and black bracket out and look at it. The bearing diameter from this side is larger than the thumb wheel side and that would confirm that the black mounting plate is upside down. **Q: Can this be used to straighten 6 gauge (0.162") solid/bare/round copper wire?** A: I wouldn't try it, thats awful stiff wire ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love this thing! *by K***S on March 23, 2020* When I first saw this thing I have to admit, it seemed stupid to pay so much for something like this. If I was doing fuel or brake lines all the time, it would have been easier to justify. But, I do have 3 automotive projects right now and all of them need fuel lines, so I bought it.I'm really glad I did. This thing is solid, well-built, and works great. It took a matter of minutes to fully straighten 3 coiled pieces of 25ft fuel lines ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This item is junk!!! First time I used it the presses in bearing for adjusting bolt came out so I drilled and installed a set screw so I could use it because I need it now not wait for replacement so then the snap came off one of the rollers and the roller fell off.
