The bottom part showing not just wear but rather big holes! This was due to the top of my legs chafing when cycling. I tried stitching but the result was underwhelming to say the least. So I thought to give this a try. I cut the rather large (28x20cm) MastaPlasta patch in two long pieces which I applied to either side of the liner and problem solved! It is extremely sticky so I don't think it will come off. The adhesive side seems reinforced so it will not (hopefully) wear down easily. I got the Brown Suede which is a perfect match (it is a man made material but I don't care because it does not go on real leather).
