Our new puppy fits perfectly, and can't hop out. The strap that attaches to his collar doesn't get tangled up when he moves around inside the mesh "basket". Yes, this booster seat was stinky when it arrived. It had a very chemically smell. I assembled it in less than a minute, and set it outside on our patio for a few days before we used it. This allowed it to air out and smell better. Our puppy is a mini golden doodle, 5 months old, 12 lbs, and he has room to lay down. My 9 lb Cockapoo seems to really like it ; she loves to ride in the car and jumps right in her seat. The delivery was fast and it was very easy to assemble and to put in the car. It is relatively sturdy my dog likes to rest her head and legs on top (which I don’t think it’s built for) I’m trying to teach her to stay inside. Also, it comes with two leash attachments a short one and a longer one that I can leash my dog to which is good because it keeps her secure inside, it’s long enough that she can move and not get tangled, and keeps her from Jumping out of the car when I get in and out. It also has a little pocket in the front where I can store toys, treats, bagged food. If your dog likes cushion, it’s deep enough to add a doggie blanket as the pad is a little thin but comfortable.
