There are jets inside the black water tank that spray water throughout the tank. When you are doing this, the goal is to clean any paper or solids off the sides. Just shoving the hose down the toilet wouldn't get much done. Might as well just flush large amounts of water down the toilet. There are jet type tools that connect to a hose and you can shove down the toilet. This is an alternative to the built in flush systems and would be a lot more effective than just shoving a hose down there. I wouldn't recommend the method you are asking about. **Q: Is the pictured carrying bag included?** A: The item I purchased only had the hose...no carrying bag. **Q: Can I drop this down my toilet and into the tank to the flesh out built up solids** A: No , but the best way to clean the tank is using this from the out side in to the tank .
