That said, if you buy a quality solar pool cover and keep it on when you are not swimming, it will maintain bathwater temperatures in the summer and we got in the pool yesterday evening (October 7) at 88°, which is very comfortable and what we have it set to. We initially set it to 95° and that was too warm during the summer. How efficiently it works depends on average night time temperatures and if you run a fountain, that is going to bring the temperature down. If you leave the cover off one night, it can take anywhere from a few days to over a week for it to build up the heat again. It has some caveats, but for the price, we are pleased with this product. It took a few days but now pool is staying where we set it at 88° in 60-75° weather.
