Not only is the lateral filing cabinet sturdy but it allows you to file in two directions, long ways or facing forward at the same time. This isn't important to most people but for me it's two different types of files. PERFECT!! The drawers are solid and they look great too! These are bbf - Bush Business Furniture and I highly recommend these for commercial or home offices. Their customer service is outstanding and they are quick to cover any warranty issues. I speak from experience, I expected the runaround but instead it was immediate and precise.
